Tracy Spencer

 

Senior Facilitator

Tracy Spencer is a registered social worker with over 23 years of social work experience. She has spent the last 10 years working at the University of Saskatchewan as the Manager of a team of Social Workers who provide wellness support to students and guidance a consultation to faculty and staff. Her previous experience included working in diverse mental health contexts providing social work support with child and family services and the young offender program.

As part of Tracy’s day-to-day routine, she has a broad scope of practice focused on promoting the mental health and resilience of adults in the post-secondary environment. She helps individuals navigate mental health issues and complex situations and leads a team of social workers who provide direct support and wellness programing to students. In terms of leadership and contributions, Tracy is the lead of the USask Suicide Prevention Strategy that was released in 2022, the lead of the sexual violence prevention efforts, and recently became the lead of the University Welcome/Orientation activities.

Tracy’s education background includes; completing her Bachelor of Human Justice and Bachelor of Social Work and later in her career completing her Master of Education from the University of Saskatchewan. She is a certified Mental Health First Aid trainer, safeTALK: suicide prevention trainer, and Friends Resilience trainer and presently completing her coaching certification.

As a mental health educator, I have facilitated over 200 workshops and trainings focused on mental health. She is passionate about mental health and well-being as it is the foundation which allows us to be the best person that we can be.
